Are you looking to adopt?

First ask yourself 'do I have...' :

  • The proper facilities to keep an animal? Enough space?
  • Time for the animal's needs inc. cleaning out, grooming?
  • A lifestyle suitable for having an animal dependant on me?
  • To work long hours or go on holiday often?
  • Can I afford the cost of looking after an animal?
  • Can I afford insurance to help cover high vet bills?
  • Have I bothered to find out about what the animal will need?
  • Am I prepared to clean up its mess?
  • Will I look after it when it is ill or when it gets old?
  • Will it get on with any other pets I might have?
  • Am I prepared to be responsible for any damage it may do?
  • Have you read the info on our Rehoming page first?

Cats needing new homes

Benny & Dexter
M
6 Months

These 6 month old brothers are Dexter and Benny and they were brought in by RSPCA Inspectors as their needs were not being met.

Benny has a black chin and Dexter has an all white nose and chin and both are now in lovely condition with gorgeous glossy coats and have now been neutered, vaccinated and chipped.
Quite nervous when they first came in, they are now much happier and enjoy having a fuss.
They will make great family pets and can either be rehomed as a pair or separately.

Please note we're situated in Barnsley, South Yorkshire. We are happy to consider new homes outside our area, but please be aware that any initial vaccinations, neutering or vet visits will usually be required to take place at our local vet surgery.
If you think you could provide any of our cats with a loving home then please call our Cat Coordinator on 07823 550 886. Please quote 'Branch site'.

Elsa
F
2 Years

Available for adoption

ELSA  is a stunning Calico cat of approx 2 years, brought in by RSPCA Inspectors from an owner who asked for our help, as she had taken on too many cats and could no longer cope.
Most of the cats were kittens who were rehomed quite quickly, but Elsa has been with us for a long time now because she is somewhat wary of strangers.

Despite being very scared and hissy at first, with much TLC from her fosterer she has come a long way, and although she is still a bit reticent with people she doesn't know, she can now be stroked and enjoy a fuss - especially if you have a few treats in your hand.......!

ELSA needs an experienced cat home with older children (if any) as they will need to understand her sensitive nature and realise that it's not her fault - she has just had a bad start in life, but we have promised her that things will get better.
She needs someone who will help her continue to gain confidence by being very
patient with her, giving her a bit of space and a lot of love.

Please note we're situated in Barnsley, South Yorkshire. We are happy to consider new homes outside our area, but please be aware that any initial vaccinations, neutering or vet visits will usually be required to take place at our local vet surgery.

Little Billy
M
10 weeks

This little boy is the last out of his litter and is hoping to find a special home like his lucky brothers.
He wasn't as pretty as the others and half their size, so was overlooked, but as they say "Don't judge a book by it's cover!" - we think he's really extremely cute.

Little Billy is the bravest and happy to play with 2 huge puppies and considers it the norm. He craves cuddles and loves to snuggle round your neck and watch tv. Approximately 10wks he is ready for his next adventure!

Bear
M
14 weeks

Available for adoption
This beautiful little boy is 14 week old BEAR brought in to the branch as he had been living outside after his mum got killed on the road.

He has had very little human contact and  therefore when he first came in he was quite spitty and very scared but after a great deal of TLC in his foster home he is now
much more comfortable around people he knows, and is happy to be gently handled and in his time with us he has never scratched or bitten, just an occasional spit!      He loves being stroked (thats when he purrs like an engine) and he also enjoys being brushed - which any new owner will need to continue as he has long, thick fur and
beautiful tufty ears, along with gorgeous green eyes.

We have completely fallen in love with Bear but any new owner must realise that he
will need time to settle with his new family and might well hide for a day or two until he feels confident.
He will continue to thrive if he has someone who is at home for at least part of the day, and a home without young children would be best for him.
